Chris Camacho
Christopher Camacho - Managing Director

Christopher Camacho graduated from Fatima in 1988 and was awarded a National Scholarship in the Sciences.

He did his undergraduate degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering at Duke University in North Carolina and graduated with highest honours and topped his graduating class. He did his post graduate training in Medical Biophysics at Sunnybrook Hospital in the University of Toronto and received his Master’s Degree focussing on MRI Physics.  His research work at Sunnybrook was published in the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging,

 

He is the Managing Director and Chairman of a group of healthcare companies in Trinidad and Tobago.  He has been in healthcare management in Trinidad and Tobago for over 20 years and has been involved in the establishment and operation of numerous cutting edge medical programs in Trinidad and Tobago including Port-of-Spain’s first MRI centre, the country’s first digital Cath lab and its first and only prostate brachytherapy program.  He also oversees all Biomedical Engineering and technical aspects for the group of companies.

Dr Paramanand Maharaj – Resident Consultant Radiologist

Dr Paramanand Maharaj is one of the pioneers of cross sectional Radiology in Trinidad and Tobago and is one of the most respected Radiologists in the country. After completing his specialist degree in Radiology from the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies, he went on to obtain his Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in the UK. He is a Lecturer in Radiology at the University of the West Indies and has been the head of the unit at UWI since 2002. He is an Honorary Consultant Radiologist at Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex and has held the senior positions of Clinical Director and Medical Chief of Staff at that hospital during his appointment. He is a member of numerous radiology professional societies and regularly attends international conferences and workshops in Radiology including specialty areas in MRI such as Prostate MRI and Cardiac MRI.

Dr Martin Peters – Resident Consultant Radiologist - Musculoskeletal and General

Dr. Martin Peters is a senior MRI Radiologist with a subspecialty interest in musculo-skeletal MRI but also does general MRI radiology.  He obtained his medical degree from the University of West Indies and then did eight years post graduate medical training in the UK.  His post graduate qualifications include Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiology (FRCR) both obtained in the UK. Including in his training was a posting at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham where he focussed on Orthopaedic MRI imaging. He joined the team at MRI of Trinidad and Tobago in 1999 on his return from the UK. He is also the Executive Director of West Shore Medical Radiology Services and runs his own service at the Tragarete X-ray Centre. He has over 20 years’ experience as an MRI Radiologist.

Dr Allan Thomas - Subspecialist Neuroradiologist (NZ)

Dr Allan Thomas is a Consultant Neuroradiologist (Radiologist specialized in disorders of the brain, spine and associated nervous system as well as the Head & neck).  He was born in Trinidad and Tobago and graduated from St Mary’s College.  He went on to obtain his medical degree and specialist DM in Radiology from the University of the West Indies.  He spent the final year of his DM training in the UK where he pursued an in depth exposure to Neuroradiology.  He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiology in the UK and went on to do Fellowship training in cross sectional and interventional Neuroradiology in London and Nottingham.  He has since held Consultant Interventional Neuroradiology posts in Nottingham and Birmingham in the UK continuously over the period 2003 to 2019 before accepting a new post in Hamilton, New Zealand where he is currently based.

Dr Thomas has a tremendous wealth of experience in neuro-oncology and neurovascular, diagnostic and interventional services as well as head and neck as well as skull base imaging. He is a highly regarded proctor for novel interventional neuroradiology devices and a neuroradiology tutor. He has participated in numerous cancer, spinal intervention and stroke intervention trials. He has published numerous articles in his field.  Dr Thomas has provided sub-specialist MRI neuroradiology services for MRI of Trinidad and Tobago for over a decade and is readily contactable to further discuss cases by doctors referring to MRI of Trinidad and Tobago.

 

Dr. Steven Allen –- Subspecialty Breast Radiologist (UK)

Dr Steven Allen was appointed to the Royal Marsden Hospital as a Consultant Breast and General Cancer Radiologist in 2006. He developed the breast MRI service at the hospital. He is the multidisciplinary team leader for breast cancer at the Chelsea branch of RMH and is a specialist advisor to both the Medicines Health and Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) which are UK committees providing national guidance for the whole of the UK. He is a member of the British Breast Group and the British Society of Breast Radiology. He is a leading peer reviewer of the British Journal of Radiology. He maintains an active research interest having published over 30 peer reviewed papers and has presented extensively nationally and internationally.

Hannah Mathura — Operations Manager

Hannah Mathura is the Operation Manager at MRI Trinidad and Tobago Ltd.  She has been with the organisation since its inception, in 1997.  For you the patient, her role is a crucial one.  She is responsible for the coordinating of all operational activities related to the patient and work flow of the MRI centre.  She coordinates the continuous education program for the MRI technologists and oversees all staff training and support.   Her efforts ensure that patients receive the highest quality scans that leverages the newest proven techniques in accordance with best practices. She helps develop policies and procedures to facilitate a smooth, accurate and timely work flow for scans and results allowing for expedited pathways when required. All quality control measures fall under her purview benchmarked by ACR standards and guidelines.
Ms. Mathura has over 30+ years of experience in field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Her many years of experience at MRI Trinidad and Tobago Ltd is supported by her academic training with a B.Sc in Physics (Hons.), a M.Sc in Physics (Medical Physics) with specialisation in MRI/A, a Masters in Hospital Administration (MHA) and most recently she is a qualified attorney-at-law.  She has a passion for efficiency in operations and applying the principles of LEAN Six Sigma.
Her vision of leadership is servant leadership; leading by example, ensuring as much as possible front line staff is fully supported and focused on patient centred-care.

Anthony Ramharack – MRI Technologist

Anthony Ramharack is an MRI Technologist with over 19 years’ experience in his field. His MRI experience includes: General MR imaging, Musculoskeletal, Breast, Cardiac, MR Angiography and any other customized MRI protocols. He received his Associate Degree in Radiological Sciences from the NIHERST College of Health Sciences and subsequently went on to become certified in MRI scanning through the Michener Institute of Canada. His also has experience in X-Ray and CT Scan imaging.

He attends conferences/workshops regularly in the USA, keeping up to date with international best practices so as to continue improving in the delivery of quality imaging and service at MRI Trinidad and Tobago Limited.  He is a strong believer in team spirit and positive thinking towards problem solving. Anthony enjoys the outdoors and particularly deep sea fishing.

Andre Jackson – MRI Technologist

Andre Jackson is an experienced MRI Technologist performing MRI scans since 2001. He has an associate degree in Radiologic Sciences from COSTATT and went on to obtain his diploma in Magnetic Resonance Imaging from the Michner Institute at the University Health Network (UHN) in Canada.  He is Canadian Board Certified in MRI (CAMRT).  He regularly attends updates and workshops in MRI in the USA. He has been trained and experienced in all aspects of MRI imaging including advanced applications like cardiac MRI, breast MRI, peripheral MRA and advanced neuro MRI techniques.
